Smile

“Smile though your heart is aching,

Smile even though it’s breaking,

When there are clouds in the sky

You’ll get by.”

If there was one song that could sum me up, it would be Smile by Charlie Chaplin.  As you’ve read, I have had my dark days and moments.  I even embrace them because I feel it is unhealthy to ignore emotions (well, I didn’t always EMBRACE them).  I try not to let these emotions take over my life now, but feel them, and move on.

“If you smile through your pain and sorrow,

Smile, and maybe tomorrow

You’ll see the sun coming shining through

For you…”

Mother’s Day has always been hard for me since my mom has passed, and even harder now that I have children.  It is a mixture of feelings.  I feel blessed to have children of my own, but especially on this day, I ache for my mother.

As the song says,

“That’s the time you must keep on trying

Smile, what’s the use of crying?

You’ll find that life is still worthwhile

If you just…smile.”

I remember her, I cry, but life IS worthwhile, for many, many reasons.

We all have bad days.  Bad weeks.  Heck, even bad months or years.

But I promise you,

“That’s the time you must keep on trying

Smile, what’s the use of crying?

You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
